  1. Interpersonal - Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in Communication will demonstrate knowledge of how people communicate with each other and how the exchange of information within dyadic relationships and how communication is affected by various factors. They will be able to:
    • Determine which conflict management style(s) would be most appropriate for resolving a conflict.
    • Describe how interpersonal communication theories explain human interaction.
    • Explain the appropriate skills needed to work effectively in teams.
    • Compare and contrast interpersonal theoretical explanations of human interaction with Christian worldview explanations.
  2. Intercultural - Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in Communication will apply their skills in communication in culturally sensitive ways and show they can communicate across cultures. They will be able to:
    • Interpret cultural symbols.
    • Deliver culturally sensitive messages.
    • Explain how behaviors express cultural norms or values.
  3. Social Science Research - Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in Communication will know the foundations of communication research and use that knowledge in better understanding the field of communication. They will be able to:
    • Differentiate between different approaches to communication research.
    • Interpret data from a research study.
    • Design and implement research specific to communication.
  4. Organizational - Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in Communication will explore how communication occurs within organizations and how it can help or hinder the obtaining of organizational goals. They will be able to:
    • Construct effective external organizational messages.
    • Create an effective training plan for an organization.
    • Explain systems or processes for effective internal communication within organizations.
